RYA day skipper practical courses for sailing yachts or motor boats equip you with the skills to skipper a boat in familiar waters by day and charter vessels in the UK or abroad.
This 2-day entry level course provides the skills and background knowledge needed to drive a powerboat and is the basis of the International Certificate of Competence (ICC).
The 5-day RYA coastal skipper practical course teaches more advanced techniques to prepare you for longer and more challenging coastal and overnight passages.
Low instructor – student ratios ensure the highest quality learning experience focused on you and your crews specific strengths and weaknesses. Every hour spent onboard is more productive when learning in this way.
Our training provides the opportunity to train on the boats and in the sailing areas you’ll be skippering in as a club member. Our wide choice of boats provide a natural pathway for you to enjoy as your skills progress over time.
Book a private RYA course and bring family and friends at no extra cost. It’s a great way to combine accredited training with memorable family time.
Crew can either study for the same qualification as you, or for other qualifications (eg. competent crew or helmsman). They can also just come and have fun, and support you.
Small group training is a cost effective way to gain RYA qualifications and enjoy getting afloat in a sociable learning environment.
We standardly run shared RYA training with a 2:1 student instructor ratio. This means our trainers can clearly focus on your strengths and weaknesses, making best use of your time.
RYA Day Skipper Courses completed in the Solent are held in high regard worldwide – it’s often said if you can sail in the Solent you can sail anywhere.
We’ve been based in Hamble, at the heart of the UK’s boating scene since 2007.
The Solent, with a wonderful selection of harbours and pretty bays, is beautiful and varied but also demanding, with challenging winds, complex tides and busy waterways.

The ability to book 1-1 training represents a much better quality training experience than the group programmes that are common at other training centers.
