Round the Island 2024

Round the Island Yacht Race (around the Isle of Wight) is one of the most iconic events in the world, and truly one of sailings greatest spectacles! Every year over 15,000 sailors and around 1,400 yachts compete in the Island Sailing Club’s Round the Island Yacht Race.

Grab a race berth onboard our X-Yacht 37 ‘Pure Attitude’ or charter one of our yachts with a professional skipper and take part in one of the world’s biggest yachting competitions.

 

About Round the Island Race 2024

The Round the Island Race is unique in its sheer scale; with thousands of yachts on the start line, ranging from small family cruising boats to sleek maxi racers.

When the canon fires on the Royal Yacht Squadron line off Cowes, the 55 mile course sends the fleet anticlockwise around the Isle of Wight, which takes anything from 3 – 10 hours – depending on the type of yacht. The infamous Solent tides and variable winds create incredibly exciting racing and a spectacle of epic proportions. It is just a great sailing experience.

Location :  Port Hamble Marina, Hamble, Southampton

Boat : X-Yacht 37. ‘Pure Attitude’ is fully race prepped with a wardrobe of North sails.

Price : £750 per person for non-members or contact us to charter a whole boat with professional skipper.

Minimum age : 16 years

Assumed knowledge: Prior sailing experience is not necessary because our experienced and patient professional skipper will ensure that everyone is trained in a role that makes a valuable contribution to the crew.

What’s included ?

Race berth onboard our X-Yacht 37, full race sail wardrobe, professional skipper, race entry fees.

Friday is training day, running through key manouveres and working on boat speed. Saturday is Round the Island race day – expect an early start!
