Leaving and coming back to your berth is often the most nerve wracking part of the day – but it really needn’t be. Build your confidence and learn new skills from an RYA instructor who will teach you how to use the wind\, tide\, prop walk and prop wash to your advantage. \nThis full day event is open to both experienced and new skippers and covers everything required for a perfect park. You will plan your manoeuvre\, communicate with your crew and gain plenty of hands on practice mooring the boat in a variety of conditions. \n

DESCRIPTION:If you only make one event this year\, make it our summer social – a day of boating and meeting other members.\nNo experience is needed. Boats will be skippered so you can relax\, race and have a fun day out. Feel free to bring guests. \nThe day: \n– Relaxed morning meet \n– Briefing prior to casting off \n– Fun sailing race from just outside Hamble to Osbourne Bay \n– Motor boats follow same course but stop for lunch at anchor (sailors have to lunch on the go) \n– Return to dock for drinks / social at Banana Wharf \nIt’s a brilliant day to expand your boating network and crewing opportunities\, whilst learning and sharing tips and experiences. Familiarise yourself with the cruising area and enjoy a day of social sailing or motoring. \nThe day starts at 9am at Port Hamble\, returning by 5pm. SUMMARY:Racing - Round the Island Race - Cruiser Racers
DESCRIPTION:The Round the Island Race is the biggest yacht race of the year\, globally. Approximately 1\,800 yachts\, from small day-sailors to 100-foot multihulls\, line up to race the 60-mile course around the Isle of Wight. Taking part lets you soak up the unique atmosphere created by this mass participation event\, with so many sailors in one place\, the tension of so many yachts around you and the multiple on-the-water battles there is no other race like it. If you want an exhilarating competitive race\, a fantastic spectacle\, a real sense of achievement and a lasting memory then look no further. \nThe Race:\nThe Cruiser boat will take place typically on one of our Hanses\, Dufours or Jeanneau which are a little more cruise oriented and compete under ISC which is a looser rating system and generally a bit less hardcore\, but still flying spinnakers and plenty of on-the-water action. \nThe itinerary (subject to change):\nFriday – Join your race skipper and fellow crew at 09:00am in Hamble for a day of training. The focus will be on teamwork and maximising boat speed in preparation for the race. On Friday evening the boat will return to Port Hamble for a crew de-brief and dinner ashore. \nSaturday – Race Day always begins with an early start! After the race you will return to Hamble for departure. Expect the race to last around 8-9 hours. \nAccommodation:\nIf accommodation is required for the Friday evening\, please do discuss requirements with the PL team. Accommodation is not guaranteed. \nPlease note:\nPrice does not include onshore accommodation or catering. The itinerary is subject to change dependent on weather and race start times.
