Whether you’re stopping for lunch, going for a quick swim, or need to deal with engine failure, anchoring or picking up a mooring buoy securely and confidently is vital in ensuring the safety of you and your crew. Learn how to appraise the wind and tide to plan your approach under sail and motor.
Do you know what you need to consider before anchoring or picking up a mooring buoy?
Are you familiar with the process of dropping the anchor and can you make the right checks to ensure your anchor is not dragging?
Where should the pick-up point of the mooring be relative to the vessel?
