This is a relaxed offshore summer race organized by the yacht clubs of Palermo and Monte Carlo. It’s not quite a premium event like the Giraglia Rolex Cup but it’s fun to have the finish and hospitality in Monte Carlo!
Meeting in Palermo on the evening of Sunday 18th August for team drinks and dinner, followed by boat prep and practice on Monday/Tuesday 19/20th August to prepare for the start on Wednesday.
The race could be compared with the RORC Caribbean 600, but with less predictable winds and much more demanding weather routing. Ideal for sailors who enjoy a warm breeze and warm water and enjoy the challenges of tricky tactics. The landscapes of Sicily, Sardinia and Corsica are amazing.
We are entering our X-Yacht 46 ‘Impulse’, she is fully equipped for offshore racing with a full suit of racing sails. Sails include: 2018 North mainsail, No.1 Aramid Laminate Jib, No.2 (3DL style) and a Code Zero which is a critical sail for this type of inshore racing.
Whilst ‘Impulse’ is big enough to offer exhilarating performance, she is still small enough to be really engaging to sail.
Book fights to arrive in Palermo by the evening of Sunday 18th August.
Monday 19th August – Boat prep and sailing! Boat familiarisation with a focus on team work, sail changes, manoeuvres and trim.
