Example pricing and usage study – we can customise plans to suit you

Our unique points system provides really flexible boating. Training membership plans are allocated points and you spend the points on boats, instructors and events. Bigger boats use more points, as do weekend days and bank holidays. The right plan for you depends on the boats you want to use, your previous experience and the number of days you want to be on the water once you are a qualified and fully competent skipper..

Our example training plan works well for most training members but we can also offer bespoke options for anyone who wants something just a bit different.

Frequently asked questions

Can I customize my plan to fit me?

Absolutely. Our two example training plans work well for most PL members but we also offer bespoke options for anyone who wants something just a bit different. Get in touch for a bespoke proposal.

Can I use my full annual allocation of points to complete my training and go boating in a single month?

No. A key facet of any shared use scheme is the ability to get boat at times that suit you – thus we carefully manage supply and demand to ensure good availability for all. Our seasonal booking calendar is an important tool in achieving this. Annual fleet membership points are allocated equally across three seasons (4 month blocks: High = May-August, Mid = Mar-Apr & Sep-Oct and Low = Nov-Feb) and they need to be used in the season to which they are allocated.

How do I pay for the training?

It’s all included in the plan and you pay with your membership points - both for the boat and the instructor. Instructors are charged at 20 points per day or you can pay at the cash rate of £255 if you prefer.

Are there any extra costs?

Your membership includes fully equipped and maintained boats, home berthing, insurance, access to our event programme and much more. Additional charges apply as follows:

Fuel is included on sailboats and riverboats but metered and charged at cost on seagoing motorboats.

We make a charge per engine hour run. Sailboats £6/hour, riverboat and smaller motorboats £12/hour and larger motorboats £18/hour/engine.

Skippers are available at £255/ day

Accessories such as dinghies, outboards, spinnakers plus cleaning and catering options are available at extra cost.

We don't charge for fuel on the sailing boats and our river cruiser but understandably we do charge for fuel on the Solent based motorboats, via fuel meters, so you only pay for what you use.

Cleaning and Catering are also available at additional charge.

Am I insured?

Yes, all boats are insured for accidental damage. Members are liable for repair costs up to a maximum of £2000.

Can I save money by paying annually?

Annual payment in advance brings a 5% discount. Contact us for details of how much you can save with a multi year plan.

Is there a joining fee?

Yes, £995 one-off club joining fee applies to all new members and anyone rejoining after a break in membership.

Can I use the club rib?

Yes, all members that hold an RYA powerboat level 2 license enjoy access to the club rib. You pay for the boat with your membership points, plus engine and fuel costs.

Can I share my membership with a friend?

Yes, we offer joint memberships at the extra cost of £50/month for each additional member that has independent booking access to the account. Get in touch to find out more and discuss whether this is applicable to your situation.
