Our unique points system provides really flexible boating. Fleet membership plans are allocated points and you spend the points on boats, instructors, events and more. Bigger boats use more points, as do weekend days and bank holidays. The boats you use and the days you choose determine how many points you need.

Our three example fleet plans work well for most PL members but we can also offer bespoke options for boat owners, business owners and anyone who wants something just a bit different.

Frequently asked questions

Can I customize my plan to fit me?

Absolutely. Our three example fleet plans cover the needs of most members but we also offer bespoke options for anyone who wants something just a bit different. Get in touch for a bespoke proposal.

Can I use my full annual points allocation to go boating in a single month?

No. A key facet of any shared use scheme is the ability to get boat at times that suit you – thus we carefully manage supply and demand to ensure good availability for all. Our seasonal booking calendar is an important tool in achieving this. Annual fleet membership points are allocated equally across three seasons (4 month blocks: High = May-August, Mid = Mar-Apr & Sep-Oct and Low = Nov-Feb) and they need to be used in the season to which they are allocated.

How do I become familiar with the operation of the boats?

We recognise everyone is starting from a different position and find it helpful to separate induction and competency checking. For efficiency and convenience, we expect you to “self induct” using our boat guides and spending some time familiarising yourself onboard. We will check competence on a “boat class” basis and once that has been satisfied you are free to induct and book boats.

When you first join, we'll set up a day to walk you through our club processes, berth location characteristics and help you get into the detail of the boat systems, before checking your competency on your preferred boat classes. Further competency checks on additional boat types are charged at £75.

Can I book an instructor for some training?

Yes, and it's a very popular service. Booking an instructor to help you improve specific key skills, train on a new boat type, or get you and your crew working slickly together can really help your boating become more enjoyable. Instructors are charged at £255 per day or 20 points .

Can I use the club rib?

Yes, all members that hold an RYA powerboat level 2 license enjoy access to the club rib. You pay for the boat with your membership points, plus engine and fuel costs.

Am I insured?
