DESCRIPTION:Elevate your handling\, sharpen your judgement and progress toward Yachtmaster standard\nBuild the confidence\, precision and higher‑level seamanship expected of a Yachtmaster‑standard skipper. This two‑day training event sits between Skipper it like a Pro and our full Yachtmaster Prep & Exam week\, giving members a focused opportunity to accelerate their progression\, refine advanced techniques and gain structured practice in skills rarely rehearsed during normal cruising. \nAcross the two days you’ll work through realistic scenarios\, targeted coaching and higher‑intensity manoeuvres designed to strengthen judgement\, improve consistency and help you feel calm and in control in more demanding conditions. You’ll come away with greater confidence\, more assured handling and a clear understanding of your next steps. \nYou’ll learn to\n–  Handle a yacht confidently under sail in close quarters\, using clear crew communication and decision-making to carry out controlled slow‑speed manoeuvres.\n–  Apply structured techniques for advanced berthing\, including springing on and off\, wind-against-tide approaches and strategies for more complex scenarios.\n–  Plan and execute night pilotage using lights\, transits\, depths and electronic navigation to maintain safe\, accurate progress after dark.\n–  Recognise and interpret lights and buoyage to support confident navigation in reduced visibility. \nWho’s it for? \nMembers who have completed Skipper it like a Pro or have equivalent experience\, and who want to build the confidence and consistency needed before stepping up to Yachtmaster preparation.

DESCRIPTION:Our most popular event day literally teaches you how to park your sailing boat like a pro. Leaving and coming back to your berth is often the most nerve wracking part of the day – but it really needn’t be. Build your confidence and learn new skills from an RYA instructor who will teach you how to use the wind\, tide\, prop walk and prop wash to your advantage. \nThis full day event is open to both experienced and new skippers and covers everything required for a perfect park. You will plan your manoeuvre\, communicate with your crew and gain plenty of hands on practice mooring the boat in a variety of conditions. \n

SUMMARY:Sail training - RYA Coastal skipper
DESCRIPTION:If you’re serious about developing your skippering skills\, then the 5-day RYA coastal skipper practical course covers advanced skippering techniques – ideal if you already have a strong sailing and navigational skill base (YM theory) and now want to undertake coastal passages by day and night. \nYou’ll skipper suitably demanding passages and learn more about pilotage by day and night\, boat handling\, passage planning\, safety and emergency situations. It’s an intensive week – be prepared for some hard work. You will be sleeping onboard and visiting ports along the south coast. \nPlease note this training event is also suitable for anyone looking to build miles and develop their skills with intensive training – so even if you’re not ready to successfully complete the coastal skipper course\, this is a really comprehensive week that will take your skills and knowledge forward to the next level. \nMarina fees away from the home berth and food onboard are not included. \n  \nLearn more about the RYA coastal skipper course
