Whether you are a newly qualified day skipper or are looking to consolidate previous experience\, this intensive 2 day event is a great way to develop 3 key skill areas. \nStarting with a sail trim and reefing session\, you’ll get lots of hands on experience and benefit from the top tips and best practices from a PL instructor. As day turns to night\, you’ll work through a serious of navigational exercises before overnighting in a Solent marina away from Port Hamble (choice dependent on weather). Day 2 will focus on marina boat handling both in the morning and on return to Port Hamble\, with more sail trim and navigational work covered on the return leg to Port Hamble. \nJoin with other members and benefit from a 2:1 student-instructor ratio for a high quality training experience! \nMarina fees away from the home berth and food onboard are not included.

With up to three members onboard\, you will each be asked to assume the role of skipper to demonstrate your ability and understanding of: \n\nBoat checks\nSafety briefings\nBoat handling under both sail and motor\nIRPCS.\n\nPlease allow adequate time to prepare a passage plan for the day. It should be submitted to the office three days prior to the assessment date. \nBefore booking an assessment please ensure you’ve completed the First Booking Form and have read our guidance on passing your competence assessment

SUMMARY:Competence assessment - Sailboat
DESCRIPTION:This one day assessment is the fastest way for experienced skippers to get on the water and demonstrate competence. \nYou will focus on the core skills required to safely skipper sailboats within the Pure Latitude fleet. With up to three members onboard\, you will each be asked to assume the role of skipper to demonstrate your ability and understanding of: \n\nBoat checks\nSafety briefings\nBoat handling under both sail and motor\nIRPCS.\n\nPlease allow adequate time to prepare a passage plan for the day. It should be submitted to the office three days prior to the assessment date. \nBefore booking an assessment please ensure you’ve completed the First Booking Form and have read our guidance on passing your competence assessment
