DESCRIPTION:The Race:\nRace onboard our X-Yachts 37 ‘Pure Attitude’ in one of the most popular RORC races on the calendar Cowes – St Malo race. This race duration is 151nm. \nThe RORC race to St Malo takes place on Friday 5th July and forms part of the JOG Offshore series in 2024. \nThe itinerary (subject to change): \nIt is best to come down Thursday evening for an early start the next day. \nFriday – Early set off time around 6am. Race day. \nSaturday – Arrive in St Malo and if time allows have a crew meal. \nSunday – Departure back at Hamble with the aim to be back Sunday evening. Please note this could change and you may not be back till the early hours of Monday morning. \nAccommodation: \nPlease let know if you are planning to stay in Hamble or wish to stay on the boat on Thursday night. Whether you are a newly qualified day skipper or are looking to consolidate previous experience\, this intensive 2 day event is a great way to develop 3 key skill areas. \nStarting with a sail trim and reefing session\, you’ll get lots of hands on experience and benefit from the top tips and best practices from a PL instructor. As day turns to night\, you’ll work through a serious of navigational exercises before overnighting in a Solent marina away from Port Hamble (choice dependent on weather). Day 2 will focus on marina boat handling both in the morning and on return to Port Hamble\, with more sail trim and navigational work covered on the return leg to Port Hamble. \nJoin with other members and benefit from a 2:1 student-instructor ratio for a high quality training experience! \nMarina fees away from the home berth and food onboard are not included.

With up to three members onboard\, you will each be asked to assume the role of skipper to demonstrate your ability and understanding of: \n\nBoat checks\nSafety briefings\nBoat handling under both sail and motor\nIRPCS.\n\nPlease allow adequate time to prepare a passage plan for the day. DESCRIPTION:The Round the Island Race is the biggest yacht race of the year\, globally. Approximately 1\,800 yachts\, from small day-sailors to 100-foot multihulls\, line up to race the 60-mile course around the Isle of Wight. Taking part lets you soak up the unique atmosphere created by this mass participation event\, with so many sailors in one place\, the tension of so many yachts around you and the multiple on-the-water battles there is no other race like it. If you want an exhilarating competitive race\, a fantastic spectacle\, a real sense of achievement and a lasting memory then look no further. \nThe Race:\nThe Cruiser boat will take place typically on one of our Hanses\, Dufours or Jeanneau which are a little more cruise oriented and compete under ISC which is a looser rating system and generally a bit less hardcore\, but still flying spinnakers and plenty of on-the-water action. \nThe itinerary (subject to change):\nFriday – Join your race skipper and fellow crew at 09:00am in Hamble for a day of training. The focus will be on teamwork and maximising boat speed in preparation for the race. On Friday evening the boat will return to Port Hamble for a crew de-brief and dinner ashore. \nSaturday – Race Day always begins with an early start! After the race you will return to Hamble for departure. Expect the race to last around 8-9 hours. \nAccommodation:\nStaying overnight in Hamble.\nPlease stay onshore and we highly advise booking early. She’s a superlative performer that is everything a cruiser/racer should be; easily handled\, impeccably behaved\, beautifully comfortable down below and\, perhaps most importantly of all\, impressively quick. The price tag on a new J/45 comes in upwards of £700\,000\, so this is a very special opportunity to sail onboard this beautiful boat. \nAnd the destination won’t disappoint either! Nestling in the Normandy estuary where the Seine meets the English channel\, harbours don’t come any prettier than Honfleur. Colourful half-timbered houses jostle for position on the quay\, along with art galleries and restaurants serving delicious seafood. It’s a gem to visit and always extra fun on a boat.
