Firmly established as the leader in the fast growing UK boat share sector Pure Latitude Boat Club is currently recruiting for a Motor Cruising Instructor (YMI preferred but not essential).
But we’re not just looking for a great instructor, you’ll also need demonstrable customer service skills and the drive, enthusiasm and ability to play an important role in shaping the continued growth of the business.
Job Purpose
The primary focus of the role is to deliver high quality motor cruising instruction to club members on the Pure Latitude fleet, including both formal RYA qualifications and ongoing bespoke tuition to help build the competence and skills of rusty or new day skippers.
Our customers enjoy training on a private or small group basis, so we’re looking for a level of instruction that can fast track their journey to becoming confident and competent skippers with a high quality training experience.
Job Scope
• Personally lead motor cruising training, inductions and competence assessments
• Promote our competence culture throughout the delivery of training
• Upsell further training through feedback and reporting

• Customer feedback on your instruction
• Member competence incidents/failures
Experience required
• RYA motor cruising instructor qualifcation – YMI or other instructor disciplines (sail/power) a big plus.
• Strong customer facing experience in a consumer environment.
• A track record of achievement and of customer satisfaction.
• Demonstrable commercial experience.
• Deep understanding of boating and an appreciation of the charter/membership boating sector.
• Strong network of marine contacts.
Experience required
• Strong customer relationship management and customer service skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly organised and self motivated.
• Commercially oriented.
• Able to work successfully both as part of a team and autonomously
• High initiative and ability to work with minimum guidance.

The primary focus of the role is to manage and support the training requirements of our members – so not only do you need a strong boating background (formal instructor qualifications a plus) but you’ll also need demonstrable customer service skills and be an articulate communicator both written and verbal.
Developing and implementing the systems and processes which monitor the skippering competence of club members is a crucial part of the role. Our members have access to a wide range of different boats so monitoring, recording and guiding member competence across a range of variables requires precision and logical, well-structured thinking.
Our new team member will need to demonstrate all the skills above, but perhaps most importantly, the drive and passion to make a difference whilst taking full ownership of this important role.
Job Purpose
To manage company training, induction and competence processes to ensure all customers have the necessary skills to safely operate their selected boats.
Job Scope
• Develop and implement training, induction and competence processes, plans, metrics, incentives and systems for both new and existing members
• Proactively drive a competence culture across the membership through continuous development
• Advise on the practical disciplines of sail, motor cruising and powerboat plus theory and online training
• Personally lead training, inductions and competence assessments
• Create events and training products to grow revenues, enhance skill levels and help retain members
Key Accountabilities
• Ensure high standards of customer service, responsiveness and proactivity
• New member onboarding competence process (pre-qual, plans and completion of plans)
• Member competence (ongoing compliance, managing deviations, expanding boat range)
• Deliver instruction for training, inductions, competence checks and events
• Act as the PL authority for all membership training and competence enquiries
• Drive engagement on training and events
• Manage freelance instructor performance (briefing, feedback, referrals)
• Develop new business initiatives around training for member and non-member market
• Assist with all other business functions (eg maintenance) as required in a small business environment
• Training P&L
• RYA school compliance

Experience required
